Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News -Pirate Shipwreck is live!

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News -Pirate Shipwreck is live!

Arrrggghhh ye swabs! Thar’s a new pirate-themed game off the port bow in the Kickstarter Sea.

This one looks like a fun game for the family and gamers alike and its all about securing treasure from a shipwreck and preventing other players from doing the same. In the midst of all of that, you will be dealing with hazards so it sounds like you will have lots to challenges to deal with to win.

From the project –

Brave changing currents, perilous hazards, and the threat of attack from other pirates to salvage treasure from the shipwreck!

Disaster struck a pirate ship laden with treasure. Wrecked on rocks in the middle of an archipelago of islands, the pirates scattered to nearby islands on makeshift rafts. With the pirates on each island rising against the other islands to claim the treasure, you can train further pirates from your island’s indigenous population and build rafts to navigate to and from the shipwreck. When navigating, you will follow currents, anchor, or bribe your pirates to paddle harder and deviate from the direction of the current. You will contend with various hazards including whirlpools, sharks and storms, attack other players, stealing their treasure and try protecting your own treasure. The winner is the player to get the most treasure back to their island.

Pirate Shipwreck is a relatively light-hearted or family game for two, three, or four players. Regular gamers told us they enjoy playing the game as an opener to gaming evenings. Families also enjoy the game – adult players can scale the intensity of play to suit the age of children, whilst helping develop their spatial, communication and imagination skills.

The good news is free shipping to all EU countries, the USA, and Canada. Shipping elsewhere is subsidised to the same extent with additional costs indicated by Kickstarter.

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius erupts on Kickstarter

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius erupts on Kickstarter

See what I did there? Well I tried, eh?

Punch-It Entertainment has launched their project for their game Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius.

Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius is a lightweight area-control game of building, bluffing, and destruction. For 2-5 players, ages 8 and up.

This is a light, area control game which seems like it would be fun for non-gamers. It’s co-designed in part by Jay Little, whose game design credits include: X-Wing Miniatures, Edge of Empire, Blood Bowl Team Manager.

From the project –

Pompeii: Wrath of Vesuvius has only two phases in the game – the Pompeii Phase and Vesuvius Phase. Which means it’s easy to get into, but offers a variety of game play strategies with its cleverly designed building and bluffing mechanics.

Powerful families vie for control over key districts throughout the city. Once the districts are complete, however, the mighty volcano known as Vesuvius erupts, sending its destructive lava to burn away what these families worked so hard to build.

Only a few remnants of the once proud city still stand. The family clever and fortunate enough to secure its influence during both the development and destruction of Pompeii shall claim victory!

Nothing like a good volcanic eruption to game over. The art looks very nice as do the components. This one looks like good fun folks so check it out HERE.

Btw my UK and European friends, this one is Euro friendly and for that reason alone, should be checked out.The price seems fair including shipping.

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – The Ragnar Brothers have updated Backpacks & Blisters

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – The Ragnar Brothers have updated Backpacks & Blisters

One of the great things about living in the UK is being able to go for walks or go “rambling” in the countryside which is pretty spectacular, especially the further north you go, like for instance in the Lake District.

I had no idea that my buds, the Ragnar Brothers had a game about rambling and as soon as I saw that they had updated it and launched a Kickstarter, I had to back it.

The staggering beauty of the English Lake District has been inspiration to poets, artists, novelists and philosophers. Backpacks and blisters is a strategic movement game with players spending a day rambling amongst mountains, woods, lakes streams and waterfalls, all captured in the delightful artwork of Marco Primo.

Starting in the morning, each rambler sets off from the market town of Keswick with a pound in their pocket and four walking cards in their hand. Money can be used to buy chocolate or refreshments, bus rides or ferry trips. However the real work of the day is on foot, uphill and down dale. Blisters and the heavy rucksack can hinder and at lunch and then tea-time, the number of cards in hand is reduced.

All ramblers need to be back in Keswick before six pm … if not, call Mountain Rescue!

As the Lake District bids to become a world heritage site, Ragnar Brothers invite your support on Kickstarter in producing this great game and help celebrate this corner of paradise.

Intrigued? Go and check out Backpacks & Blisters

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – Cyberpunk fan? Check out Nightlancer!

I know that a lot of you are Cyberpunk fans and will know a lot more than I do but I have to say that Nightlancer from Adversity Games looks like a good one. It is now live on Kickstarter here.

The art looks very nice and I like that it sounds a bit like a tabletop rpg. Carrying out missions is always a tick of the right box for me and speaks to replay value. You will compete and at times may choose to cooperate with the other players which sounds interesting and fun.

The price seems fair and with free shipping in the US and UK as well as EU, US and Canada-friendly shipping Nightlancer should attract a lot of attention.

Keeping my eye on this one 🙂

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News -No Honor Among Thieves is LIVE! and it’s EU friendly

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News -No Honor Among Thieves is LIVE! and it’s EU friendly

The folks at Carpe Omnis Games have launched their new game project, No Honor Among Thieves on Kickstarter.

Yes, I admit it, I do love take that games and as the title suggests, players will certainly get their chance to  stick it to other players, all in good fun of course.

From the project…

No Honor Among Thieves is a competitive/cooperative game for three to five players in which each player assembles a crew of thieves and sets out to see who can steal the most wealth from the rich and powerful of a fantasy city. Working alone is difficult, but working together leaves you open to treachery by your so-called allies–or gives you the chance to betray them, and take it all for yourself. An unspoken code of honor exists among the thieves of this city, but that won’t last past the first betrayal, and once that uneasy trust is gone the game becomes more dangerous as players tap into abilities that they couldn’t use while the thieves’ code of honor was still intact.

I suspect that there will be a lot of growns as well as laughs as you move from early alliances and cooperation to making use of your crew’s abilities to take best advantage and stab your mates in the back.

A card-based game with a fantasy setting, here is a pic of the components –

The price looks competitive for sure as does the EU friendly shipping (British Gamers take note!)

So, please have a look at this project if you like sneaky, “take that” type games here. They’ve already started well and you may just want to jump on board.
