And Now for something completely different – Luchador! Mexican Wrestling Dice inspires a fashion range at London Fashion Week
I kid you not! Luchador – Mexican Wrestling Dice is the inspiration for a fashion line created by Markus Lupfer for London Fashion Week. I and the Backspindle Games Boyz as well as artist MeowGod are so humbled and proud!
Talk about random and bizarre eh? But actually, its quite an honour to have my game inspire a fashion designer. The photo above is the line. Here is another with awesome Luchadores.
Here is a link to the article. Scroll down to the piece on Markus Lupfer. Cool eh?
Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News 30/09/15 – If I had the cash I would take a look at…
As it goes in the song, “it’s been a while…” since I actually saw anything on Kickstarter that I thought was worth bringing to your attention. The truth is, Kickstarter has been full of the same old dross for some time. Very little new and interesting. Re-treads of the same old themes, be it Fantasy, Space, Zombies, Cthulhu, Animals in human guises. Many of the other games just are boring too. Then there are the Big Box and mini driven games which price so many backers out. it’s ridiculous. Outside of that the themes are sooo meh. Its all oh sooooo boring…
Well here is at least one interesting and relatively fresh project, although it is a fantasy game. Exception to every rule right?
The 7th Continent
Remember the choose your own adventure books? Well this game is like them but in game form.
Lift curses or die trying in the first “choose-your-own-path” exploration board game. 1000+ minutes of adventure for 1 to 4 players.
The 7th Continent is a cooperative exploration and survival board game with mechanics inspired by the adventure books where “you are the hero”. On your own or in a team of up to 4 players, set off on an epic adventure and attempt to lift the curses that were placed upon you during your first expedition to the continent.
This seems to be fresh and interesting and fun. Its EU friendly but shame its too pricey for me so I won’t back it but you may want to have a look. I will stay with choose your own adventure boos tbh.
It’s been a while since I saw a new release that was worth my attention, and I hope yours. Here you go…
Conquest at Kismet!
In the Kismet Sector of the Raccroc Galaxy, huge self-sustaining Motherships fight over control of the sector’s vast natural resources. But you have to get past other races in order to obtain it. Hailed by its alpha testers as the Magic: The Gathering of sci-fi, this game breaks traditional card game mechanics and rearranges them into something that feels new and fresh!
Conquest at Kismet, from new game designer Jay Vales, uses a lottery-like method of resolving battle, something that’s never been used in a card game before. This allows for a very small table footprint while having a healthy mix of tactics and luck.
