Boardgames in Blighty News – Those Mad but Lovely Ragnar Brothers Launch “Barking Up the Wrong Tree” on Kickstarter
‘Barking Up The Wrong Tree’ is a lively game in five rounds. Players try to collect different trees (Oak, Maple, Baobab etc.) by placing different breeds of dog (Husky, Boxer, Dachshund etc.). It’s all very civilised until a player plays a Cat card – in which case more and more dogs can bark up the Cat tree.
The game has a deck of sixty-three cards that includes ten breeds of dog, six Stray dogs and seven different Cats. Each Cat has its own marker for placing in trees. Ten tree types make up the set of forty tree circular discs.
The game is suitable for young and old, can be played by two to five players and takes ten to thirty minutes to play depending on the number of players.
‘Barking …’ is easy to learn because of the strong theme and mechanics. However there are subtle checks and balances (particularly in the card distribution) that makes the game purr along very nicely. And the decision making and ribaldry is in the best Ragnar tradition!
The game is currently launching on Kickstarter and your support would be most welcome.
Sounds like you have to be Barking Mad to play it so check it out!
