Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – If I had the cash I’d look at… 28/3/15
Hey all, hoping that we find something worth shouting about on Kickstarter this week and yes, here you go…
Here we go Ameritrashers, a post apocalyptic game without, dare I say it, Zombies. Well yay alone for that! You are one of the last humans on earth, trying to reach a rumored fortress. Will you survive, or evolve?
The project is full of nonsense pledge levels which will appeal to the irritating fanboy types rather than someone just looking for a good, solid game and it had a stupid early bird thing for the first 48 hours which just pisses me off. I would go just for the base game folks to be honest. AND ITS EU FRIENDLY!
Having said all that, it looks like a cool game although rather long to play.
That’s all folks.
Boardgames in Blighty Press Release – Victory Point Games releases Prussia 20
Prussia 20 features two complete games covering key battles fought in Central Europe during the 1806-1807 War of the Fourth Coalition.
Jena 20 2nd Edition (October, 1806) highlights the stunning French victory which shattered the vaunted Prussian army at the twin battles of Jena and Auerstadt. With the Prussians realizing they have already been out maneuvered, their army is desperately trying to re-position itself while the French attempt to encircle and destroy them. Can the Prussian rear guard under Hohenlohe hold off Napoleon’s Grand Armée long enough at Jean to allow Brunswick’s main body to crush Davout’s lone French corps under which blocks their path to safety, or will the “Iron Marshal’s” veteran 3rd Corps stand firm against three times their numbers and seal the Prussian’s doom? The fate of two great empires is yours to decide.
Fought in some of the most severe weather conditions imaginable, the confused and indecisive battle of Eylau 20! (February, 1806) stands as a testament to the misery and horror of warfare. In the dead of winter, Russian General Levin August von Bennigsen halted his exhausted army at a small deserted crossroads village and prepared to give battle. For two days, in sub-zero temperatures with heavy snow falling almost continuously, Napoleon’s troops battered themselves against the unyielding Russian lines to little avail. Is the historical bloody and inconclusive draw the most likely outcome, or can you do better than the actual commanders and manage to eke out a victory in the terrible “Battle in a Blizzard?”
Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News – Neon Sanctum, an RPG with a difference made designed in the UK
Ok, this isn’t a board game but I wish it was… or if the designers would please make solitaire rules please…
Anyhoo, I thought it that Neon Sanctum was worth a mention, because its British and EU friendly but also because it does away with the admin side of RPG’s which can be off putting to newbies and uses cards instead in a bid to make it very accessible. It looks pretty cool so have a look.
Neon Sanctum is a cinematic, flexible and accessible RPG that uses cards in place of a character sheet. Set in a cyberpunk metropolis, Neon City.

BoardGames in Blighty Kickstarter News – Wizards Academy, another UK project which is looking good!
Like buses, from a few, lately, UK based projects are starting to show up on Kickstarter more regularly. Pricewise, great news for UK backers as shipping is free (well, built into the price I assume). At the time of this post, they are already over halfway there with 27 days to go.
This is a cooperative game of magical experimentation with different powers every game. Featuring 40 minis and 30 illustrations by top artists.

Among Nobles attempts to be the first Board Game published on the Danish Kickstarter page!
I received this note from some Danish guys…
Among Nobles the first board game to succeed on the Danish* Kickstarter page and mention us in your blog 🙂
* yes, the game is Danish, not British. It do feature loads of British nobles though – more than any other country.
Please help us to make Nobles is a self-published eurogame about establishing and expanding a family dynasty in feudal Europe. Players control some of the most iconic and influential figures in the European history. Using their unique abilities cunningly is crucial in the fierce competition between the leading noble houses. The game is won and lost in the intricate interaction between war, strategic marriages and influence at court. Each player starts with a lord and his lady and will bring generations of their family to life through birth and marriage.
Ok EU friends, time to have a look at an EU Kickstarter project that will be affordable. Although not a Euro player, I actually might be willing to play this one. British history is part of the game so UK friends take note.

Boardgames in Blighty Kickstarter News 15/03/15 – I am VERY SELECTIVE but if I had the cash I’d look at…
Yes, if your project makes it to my posts, its because I would probably play your game and consider buying it. I am very selective and generally won’t look at Euro’s at all or unoriginal bandwagon rehashes of same old themes. Although, you never know…
Holy Roman Empire
Holy Roman Empire is a political and military game of the 17th Century struggle for empire that plunged Europe into one of its longest and most destructive wars. Up to six players control the major dynasties of the era, fielding armies and navies and engaging in diplomatic intrigue and bribery to decide who will exercise control over Europe.
Looks good. Pricey BUT it is now EU friendly so worth a look…
That’s it for this week folks…
Boardgames in Blighty news – Wings of Glory Bombers on Kickstarter
Ok, so my buddy James who is a Wings of War fan and paints and makes his own models, is very excited about the latest expansion to this popular game. And he dares to send me this note –
I know you are sulking in a corner after the defeat of Manchester United by Arsenal, but any chance you could blog this:
It was funded in 2 hours and 29 minutes but any exposure to bring new players to the game would be great, the lower pkledge brackets are fantastic for bringing new players to the game and whats more is that all of the models will be available at retail once they are released in October, so they don’t need to jump in with all their feet right now!
Tsk… Arsenal James? Nah, small club. I fart in their general direction.
Anyhoo, Wings of War is very cool and the cool thing that Ares Games has done with the Wings of War series is that even if you are new to the series, you can jump in and taste it and this is the first time you can get the amzing bomber models. Very impressive, I have to say.
I mean, look how purdy!
Soooo…. Chocks away! Get yourself over to the Kickstarter project here…
