UK Games Expo 2013 – enter the Luchador!
Yep, another year, another UK Games Expo! And with a new, larger venue at the NEC Hilton, Richard Denning and his team did a sterling job in bringing us the best Expo that I’ve attended. The attendance certainly appeared to be on the up, the Hilton facilities were first rate and the awesome UK gaming community came out in force with a fun spirit and excitement for our wonderful hobby.
I was really fortunate to be able to be at the Backspindle Games booth where we were demoed Codinca, Clacks and my own design, Luchador! MexicanWrestling Dice which was officially introduced to the gaming public in a demo version.
Thanks so much to all of you who came along for a demo. The reaction that you all had to Luchador was absolutely amazing and I was completely humbled by it. It was great fun running so many Tag-Team matches and we were definitely the loudest and most animated booth of the whole convention.
It was wonderful to hear your voices of support as I explained the rules and you were really excited that there was so much theme in the design of this simple yet wild dice game.
I was very pleased to be interviewed by the UKGMN guys si we will be in their videos. Also, I was interviewed by Purple Pawn and for the awesome Little Metal Dog Show. I will post links to those interviews here when they are available. In the evening, we hosted a Luchador! Grudge Match where Michael Fox (Little Metal Dog Show) and Rory O’Connor (Rory’s Story Cubes) faced off against Paco Jean and Dr. Mike Reddy from G*M*S* Magazine and lost. It was hilarious, loud and great fun.
I didn’t get too much free time to walk around the convention but I did a couple of quick tours. I managed to pick up a copy of Forbidden Desert, Elder Sign and Guards! Guards! so I am very pleased.
I managed to take some pics of the event so here you go…
UK Games Expo 2013 was wonderful experience. It was great to see huge crowds, catch up withawesome friends and make new friends. It was excellent to see more representation from the Big Boys of game publishing which means the Expo is now being seen as a serious, important Convention. My only quibble was the cost of the food in the bar area and breakfast area which was way-overpriced by Hilton.
Otherwise, it was well organised, well attended and great fun to attend.
